ABOUT THE TEAM:
Rocket Lab is a global leader in space exploration, and our Supply Chain Management team is integral to our success. We provide real-world work experience and training to help interns better understand the process data and tools that drive successful supply chains and cost reduction. Our team supports all areas of the business, offering career pathways in EIS, Planning, Procurement, Inventory, and Logistics.
THE CHALLENGE:
Rocket Lab is transitioning to a Just-In-Time (JIT) supply chain model and working towards pre-kitting parts at suppliers where applicable. This shift requires significant analysis, master data management, and the development of a comprehensive "plan for every electron part." Our goal is to reduce inventory and risk by adding strategic supply chain buffers and ensuring JIT supply of parts to production.
YOUR MISSION:
As a Supply Chain Management Intern, you will tackle the challenge of poor working capital management due to excess inventory holding. At the time of writing, there are $8.62 million of potentially unnecessary invoices to be paid due to time-phased supply not being aligned with demand (actual consumption). Your primary goals will include:
- Inventory Analysis and Optimization: Work alongside Material Planners and Strategic Procurement teams to analyze total inventory. Quantify data, gather qualitative inputs, and model optimized inventory positions down a multi-echelon supply chain. Significantly reduce total inventory, releasing millions in working capital and reducing storage footprint.
- Automation and Efficiency: Support efforts to contain and reduce overhead by automating high-volume transactional work. Improve working capital and reduce inventory footprint through enhanced forecasting models.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Current student in good academic standing in one of the following fields: Business, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Operations Management.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Knowledge of Python is desirable.
- Good time management and communication skills.
- Proficient in Office 365 and a keen willingness to learn Rocket Lab's intranet and software.
- Basic understanding of supply chain operations is a plus.
REQUIREMENT:
Available to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning November 2025.
Ready to Launch Your Career? If you're passionate about supply chain management, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to the future of space exploration, we want to hear from you! Apply now to join Rocket Lab and take the first step towards an extraordinary career in supply chain management.
When applying, include a detailed cover letter stating what interests you about Rocket Lab and this role in particular. Feel free to be creative and stand out in your application and introduction to the team at Rocket Lab.
Be sure to include relevant experience /personal or school projects you have completed that align with this role and why you believe you would be the best candidate for this role.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
